Bodysnatcher - Bleed-Abide

Heavy Matters

Label - MNRK Heavy

Release Date- 22 April 2022

Words - Tony Bliss

Clearly devoted to deathcore’s now time-honoured sonic code, Bodysnatchers bullish assault may not offer much beyond slamming grooves and chest-beating bravado, however with thirteen tracks put together with such laser-focused bloodlust as these, any groaning about creativity is swiftly forgotten; stage-dives and circle pits are your only concern here.

Indeed, the Florida natives set out their stall early as opener proper ‘Abide’, with all its hellish, dissonant stomp, pins us against the wall from the very first second. From here on out breakdowns lunge at us from every angle, with plenty of street-tough hardcore and basement show spirit informing the likes of ‘Absolved Of The Strings And Stone’ and a viciously succint ‘Smashed Perception’, which, for all the bands deathcore DNA, lends a certain two-steppin’ thuggery that fans of The Ghost Inside or early Parkway Drive will certainly find much to swing their fists to.

Highlights are numerous, with the sewer level sludge of ‘Flatline’ and the multi-riff destruction of ‘Wired For Destruction’ smashing heads in a particularly thrilling way, however, there isn’t a track on ‘Bleed-Abide’ that won’t kick your face off in some fashion. This is a tunnel-vision, murderously minded aural beat ‘em up that is tailor-made to catch fire in a live setting, and a textbook example of deathcores enduring power.
