Walking the straight and narrow with their myopic yet bowel-looseningly brutal take on metallic hardcore, ‘extended pain’ finds box-fresh Swedish four-piece thrown in uncompromising mood. Indeed, at five tracks and a tad over ten minutes, this debut EP is just the sort of boiling-point adrenaline hit tailor made to get tongues wagging and heads turning in the underground, the band evidently keen to pulverize us with a similar power and ethos as their scene leading peers.
With an approach that blurs the line between basement show hardcore and the molten-hate sluge of deathcore, it’s maximum ferocity all the way. At such a brief running time singling out high points is a bit of a thankless task, however the closing bloody-knuckled beatdown of ‘greyout’ or the lobotomized slam of sub-two minute rager ‘dwell’ will certainly get fans of Knocked Loose, Harms Way, Dealer et al two-steppin' and crowd killin’ in particular, yet in truth, every second of ‘extended pain’ is designed to incite the utmost violence.
Leaving us broken and battered, the prospect of a full length will without doubt leave hardcore kids salivating in anticipation. You may just want to invest in some protective headgear first though.
